Synopsis
The story takes places in 13th century and tells a story of Ertugrul who's the father of the Osman I, the author of the Ottoman Empire.
400 large rambler canopies are settled in Anatolia but get through a delicate time due to shortage. All these gadabouts want to resettle to another place where they can have a better life.
Suleyman Shah who's the leader of this group( Kayi clan) wants to give a better life for his people but he doesn't want to make a quick decision without considering all side goods.
Because of this reason, some gadabouts start to condemn him for not being suitable to be a good leader. Indeed his elder ambitious son Gundogdu( Kaan Tasaner) starts to question his opinions. still, his youngish son Ertugrul trusts his father opinions all the time and doesn't want to be involved in clan issues.
Ertugrul( Engin Altan Duzyatan) is a youthful and stalwart man who frequently goes to hunting with his three close men Turgut( Cengiz Coskun), Bamsi Beyrek( Nurettin Sonmez), and Dogan( Cavit Cetin Guner). One of these days, he saves the life of a youthful girl named Halime( Esra Bilgic) and her family from Temple Knights. He brings them to his own clan without knowing their true identity.
Halime and her family belong to Seljuk Empire noble family and are to be killed by the Conglomerate if Ertugrul has not saved them. Due to the fear of being caught, they don't reveal their true identity. still, their appearance brings new difficulties to Kayi clan now they've to fight against Seljuk Empire if they don't let their guests go and they've to fight against Temple Knights who are looking for vengeance.
Meanwhile, Ertugrul carries the burden of his clan on his shoulders. He must find a new land for his clan.
For this reason, Ertuğrul and three of his men went to Aleppo to make a deal with Aleppo Shah that they would ask for a new land in exchange for their support of Aleppo Shah against the Temple Knights and other non-Muslims.
Ertugrul wants to be successful in this trip and wants to return his clan incontinently to see his first love Halime again. He makes a good print on Halep Shah and ultimately, gets a land for Kayi lineage. This new land has rich soils but veritably near to templars.
In their new land, Ertugrul and Kayi lineage need to fight against templars and the zealots. The pope and templars are preparing for the sixth campaign( that will take place during the period of 1228- 1229). With the end of retrieving the megacity of Jerusalem, templars try to weaken the Seljuk Empire. They try to abolish the concinnity in the muslim world and set Turkmens against Anatolian Seljuks.

Ertugrul( Engin Altan Duzyatan) He's the son of Suleyman Shah. Ertugrul is a stalwart legionnaire who can do anything for cause of justice and for the good of his people. Ertugrul and his legionnaire musketeers ride a steed to hunt and look for rich lands for Kayi lineage. While he's hunting, Ertugrul comes across to Halime and saves her life from templars. After also, he becomes templars ’ adversary and needs to fight against them in order to cover his people. Halime and Ertugrul fall in love with each other at first sight and endure numerous difficulties in order to get wedded.
Halime( Esra Bilgic) She's a beautiful youthful girl who's the son of a fugitive Turkmen prince Numan. Halim is saved by Ertuğrul when he and his family are held hostage by the Templars. Halime and Ertugrul fall in love with each other at first sight and endure numerous difficulties in order to get wedded. Halime has a strong personality and she can overcome any problem through her tolerance and intelligence. As he comes from a noble family, Halim is kind and strong.
Gundogdu( Kaan Tasaner) He's Suleyman Shah’s eldest son and Selcan Hatun’s hubby. Gundoğdu is an ambitious and clever man who wants to be the leader of the Kayi lineage after his father. He's considered as arrogant and greedy for power by his father. His biggest strength is his tolerance and intelligence but he's manipulated fluently by other people. Gundogdu is supported by Kurdoglu.
Suleyman Shah( Serdar Gokhan) He's the leader of the Kayi lineage and father of Ertugrul, Gundogdu, Sungurtekin, and Dundar. He's a wise leader who wants justice and the good of his people. He respects for traditions and noway takes way backward when he says “ it is a tradition ”. Suleyman Shah is a strong leader and as well as a merciful father. He occasionally doesn't refrain from taking harsh measures for the good of his people. Indeed though he makes the ultimate opinions for his lineage, he considers the advice of his council.
Turgut( Cengiz Coskun) He's a stalwart legionnaire and close friend of Ertugtul. He's engaged to Aykiz and dreams of getting wedded soon. He's one of Ertugrul’s pious musketeers and fights against Kayi lineage’s adversaries.
Bamsi Beyrek( Nurettin Sonmez) He's a stalwart legionnaire and close friend of Ertugtul. He's one of Ertugrul’s pious musketeers and fights against Kayi lineage’s adversaries.
Dogan( Cavit Cetin Guner) He's a stalwart legionnaire and close friend of Ertugtul. He's one of Ertugrul’s pious musketeers and fights against Kayi lineage’s adversaries.
Hayme( Hulya Dercan) She's the woman
of Suleyman Shah and the mama of Ertugrul, Gundogdu, Sungurtekin, and Dundar. She's a strong woman who's well admired by the people of Kayi lineage. Hayme organizes the work of work in the lineage similar as carpet weaving and published fabric.
Selcan( Didem Balcin) She's Gundogdu’s woman
and Gokce’s aged family. After her father is killed by Suleyman Shah due to his business, Selcan wants vengeance. She's ambitious, sharp- tongued, and sneaky. She does anything for her hubby’s success and tries to manipulate people as her sleeves. Selcan wants her family Gokce to get wedded to Ertugrul so that she and her family can take a vengeance from Suleyman Shah.
Aykiz( Hande Subasi) She's the son of Deli Demir and the fiancée of Turgut. She has a good personality and wants to get wedded to Turgut when everything is settled. Aykiz becomes a close friend of Halime.
Gokce( Burcu Kiratli) She's Selcan’s family. After her parents passed down, she has been raised by her family. Gokce lives in Suleyman Shah’s roof together with her family. She's silent, withdrawn, and regardful. She has been in love with Ertugrul for a long time but doesn't have courage to reveal her passions. Suleyman Shah, Hayme and Selcan authorize the marriage of Gokce and Ertugrul.
Kurdoglu( Hakan Vanli) He's a long- time friend of Suleyman Shah. When Suleyman Shah leaves Kayi lineage for a duty, Kurdoglu becomes the leader on behalf of him. Indeed though Suleyman Shah saved his life, Kurdoglu starts to betray him and develops a cooperation with templars in order to gain further power. He supported Gundogdu and tried to use him to usurp Suleiman Shah.

Titus( Serdar Deniz) He's the commander of templars located in Antakya, the southern part of Anatolia. When Ertugrul kills his family, Titus wants to take his vengeance and wipe out Kayi lineage. He's a ruthless dogface and disguises in colorful personalities to reach his target. Titus collaborates with Kurdoglu from Kayi lineage and commander Kara Toygar from Seljuk Empire.
Numan( Sedat Savtak) He's the father of Halime and Yigit. He's a Napoleon( sehzade) of Seljuk Empire. Since he comes from a noble family, he becomes a target of Seljuk Empire’s adversaries. The Templars and Mughals wanted to use him to control the Seljuk Empire.
